Unknown perpetrators have desecrated the shrine of Atingkok Maru Shidhaba Lainingthou constructed at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching yesterday.
Salai Mapari Shingpul Lup and Thangmeiband United have strongly condemned the incident.
Addressing reporters at Manipur press club, Salai Mapari Shingpul Lup general secretary Huirem Romen said that the shrine which is highly revered by the Meetei community was found dismantled on Monday morning. The miscreants defiled the shrine with doors dismantled and the materials inside the shrine scattered. They also disrespectfully kicked the Paphal of Ibudhou Pakhangba inscribed on the wooden door. The incident is very unfortunate and has hurt the sentiment of Meetei community, he said.
